Local, federal drug agents arrest 2 more, seize more drugs

For the second time this week, local and federal drug agents are reporting arrests and the confiscation of more drugs.

HALL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:

Two suspects are being held in the Hall County Jail with no bond following a drug investigation that led to the seizure of hundreds of THC oil vapes and a large quantity of marijuana at a residence on Baker Road in the eastern part of Hall County.

Drug agents with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) concluded the investigation on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, with the arrests of Oswaldo Steve Soto-Medina, 28, and Kevin Ayala, 28. Both suspects live in Gainesville.

During the course of the investigation, drug agents seized 918 THC oil vapes and 12 pounds of marijuana. Estimated street value of the illegal drugs is $98,850. In addition, agents found packaging materials, scales and other items consistent with drug distribution at the residence. They also seized a handgun and $10,000 in cash.

Both Soto-Medina and Ayala are charged with the following felony crimes:

·         Possession of THC oil with intent to distribute

·         Possession of marijuana

·         Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute

·         Trafficking marijuana

·         Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime

Ayala was also charged with obstruction and giving false information to an officer, both misdemeanor offenses.”
