Another sheriff’s officer injured on the job; this time it was a jailer

An officer assigned to the Hall County Jail was injured during a scuffle with an inmate Wednesday, the second time in less than a week that a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) employee has been injured in the line of duty.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“Inmate William Antonio Ramos, 41, was charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer following an altercation with a jail officer at the Hall County Jail on Nov. 29, 2023.

Mr. Ramos was standing at the window of the day room of one of the jail pods when the jail officer saw him trying to get his attention. When the officer entered the room, Mr. Ramos began a physical fight with the officer, striking the officer in the face and on the head. The officer suffered some visible reddening on his face, but he was not seriously hurt. Mr. Ramos suffered some scratches during the incident. He was treated by jail medical staff and released back to his cell.

Mr. Ramos, who is part of the county’s homeless population, is in jail for damaging the window of a business on Atlanta Highway on Monday, Nov. 27.”
