A rabies alert has been posted by county officials for the Clermont area after one person came in contact with what turned out to be a rabid dog.
Rabies was confirmed in the animal after it was sent to Decatur for testing at the state Department of Health’s Public Health Lab for testing. Hall County Animal Control said it was notified of the positive test results Wednesday.
Positive alert signs will be posted in the area where the rabid animal was located. If you live in this area and see an animal acting abnormally, you are asked to contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812 during non-working hours.
