REMINDER: Oakwood PD, Kroger hosting Drug Takeback Day Saturday

Got any prescription drugs laying around the house that are old or just no longer needed? If so, there’s a safe, legal way of getting rid of them this weekend.

The Oakwood Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Kroger to support a National Drug Takeback Day Saturday 10:00-2:00, at the Winder Highway location in Flowery Branch. (This is not the new store on Mundy Mill Road near McEver.)

DEA says these events provide a “safe, free and anonymous (no questions asked) way” to dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired prescription medications helping to prevent medication misuse, accidental poisonings, and environmental harm.

Pills, tablets, other forms of solid meds, as well as liquid. No syringes or illegal drugs.

Vape devices okay but batteries must be removed.
