Funeral services were held Monday for a Dahlonega man who devoted much of his life to community service either as a public official or otherwise. Jimmy Anderson, Sr., died Friday at the age of 82.
Anderson was a former member of the Dahlonega City Council and later as vice mayor/mayor pro-tem. He also was a member of the Lumpkin County Planning Commission and the Lumpkin County Development Authority.
In addition to his government service, Anderson served as president of the local historical society and was active in efforts to preserve and promote the history of Dahlonega and Lumpkin County. His interests included genealogy and local history research.
