Hall County officials reported a short while ago (1:15) that numerous roads have been affected by downed trees or power lines or both.
“Currently, seventeen (17) active trees across the roadway/trees down with powerline calls,” spokeswoman Natalae La Douceur wrote in an email. “Forty-one (41) downed trees across roadway/trees down with powerlines have been cleared since midnight.”
The latest advisory from the National Weather Service (issued about noon):
“Ingredients are favorable for the redevelopment of bands generally along and east of I75 this afternoon/evening. There is significant variation in the higher resolution models, so confidence in this redevelopment is medium-to-low.
“Instability is expected to expand to the north and west over the coming hours with shear held across the warm front (generally along I20 corridor). These two ingredients could result in rotating showers (little-to-no thunder/lightning).
What we don’t know:
-Where/If. The indicated area only shows where development chances are greatest.
-When? Models disagree, with some starting as early as 2pm and others as late as 7/8pm.
-Where will the rain bullseye be?
For areas outside the indicated “redevelopment” zone: sporadic showers will likely continue to clear from south to north and lower elevations to higher elevations. Winds may occasionally gust 20 to 30mph, with the higher gusts at the top of ridgelines.”
