*The nominees on the November ballot for U.S. Senate in Georgia will debate tonight. *Northwest Georgia raccoons are getting a round of edible rabies vaccines delivered from the sky. The USDA’s fall campaign has begun sending helicopters and low-flying airplanes to parts of 15 counties to scatter over half a million fish-scented baits. The campaign is part of a larger effort to vaccinate wild raccoons and keep rabies from spreading farther west. The bait packets are harmless to pets, although eating several can upset their stomachs.

*Governor Brian Kemp has extended the state fuel tax suspension from October 29 to November 5, keeping regular unleaded prices 33 cents lower. The current average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in the state is $3.85.  Meanwhile, diesel prices remain high this week across Georgia. AAA reports the average cost per-gallon of diesel is at $5.80. A year ago on this day, the average cost in Georgia was $3.51.
