The Hall County Elections director is reminding voters of a new step they may notice when checking in to vote during the upcoming elections.
Under a recent amendment to Georgia State Election Board Rules, poll workers are required to record each voter’s name on a numbered list of voters as part of the check-in process.
For voters, the process will look much the same as it has in previous elections. After a poll worker verifies a voter’s identity and registration information, the poll worker will write the voter’s name in ink on the numbered list before continuing the check-in process.
“This is an additional step for our poll workers, not for the voter,” said Lori Wurtz, Hall County elections director. “Voters may notice a poll worker writing their name on the numbered list during check-in. We want voters to understand that this is part of the process required under Georgia State Election Board rules and there is nothing additional they need to do.”
The additional step is expected to add only a few seconds to the check-in process, Wurtz added.
Voting begins next Tuesday with advance voting.
