*Investigators in Colquitt County have made a second arrest after unauthorized cameras were discovered inside Withers Auditorium, a facility used by students and community groups. WALB reports Kelvin Mills is now in custody, joining an earlier suspect tied to an outside audio-visual vendor. Authorities are still trying to determine whether any recordings were made and who may have been affected. Investigators say the cameras were not found inside bathrooms or dressing rooms, which was the case on Tybee Island recently, but were located near those areas.
*A candidate for state House from the Savannah area is under investigation for his voting record. The AJC says records show Democrat David Dillie voted absentee in a Nevada primary this year using a former residence owned by his godfather. This comes as he also cast a vote in Georgia, where he’s trying to pick up a seat in District 161.
*An investigation is underway after an accidental shooting involving a Clayton County Superior Court judge. A police incident report states a gun was accidentally fired by Judge Aaron Mason when he reached for his wallet at Senor Bird’s Tacos and Tequila Bar on Washington Street in Athens. Three people were wounded. The 56-year-old judge lost his re-election bid in May.
*Newton County’s commission chair is under suspension. Governor Brian Kemp issued the order yesterday in response to an indictment against Marcello Banes, who is accused of filing false tax returns and defrauding the government. He was acquitted of money laundering charges earlier this year.
