Details remain sketchy this morning, but state and local authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred at a Jefferson restaurant yesterday. Police say it happened about 3:00 in the 5200 block of U.S. 129.
In a statement posted on social media at the height of the on-scene investigation, police had warned drivers to avoid the area because of a backup of traffic.
Still unknown this morning: any victims, suspects, or what led to the gunfire. One report said shell casings littered the pavement outside the restaurant.
The GBI is assisting Jefferson Police in the investigation.
