An early morning accident on Monday on Athens Highway involving a tractor-trailer was caused when the trailer separated from the cab, according to a spokeswoman for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
“This accident happened in the eastbound lanes of Athens Highway near Oak Grove Road,” B.J. Williams wrote in an email Tuesday. “(The driver) reported he felt the load shift in the trailer. The trailer then detached from the cab of the truck.”
Williams added there was some damage to the roadway, a sidewalk and a property sign in the area.
The driver was not injured, but the Georgia Department of Public Safety’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) Unit charged him with several violations.
The accident happened about 3:30.
