The first full day of fall on Wednesday should arrive with much milder temperatures across north Georgia with highs in the mid- to upper 70s and low mostly in the upper 50s in the Gainesville area.
Drier, relatively cooler air will arrive on Wednesday and stick around through the weekend, the latest advisory from the weather service says. Highs and lows later in the week will be within a few degrees of average for this time of year with little prospect of any rain after Wednesday.
“Rain chances will increase on Tuesday and Wednesday, then drop off by the end of the week,” according to the weather service. “At least a few storms each day will have the potential to become severe (with damaging wind gusts as the primary hazard) but all storms will be capable of heavy rainfall and frequent lightning.”
