Jefferson school officials say they are investigating allegations that racial slurs were directed at visiting students following Friday night’s football game.
Atlanta Public Schools reported that students from Maynard Jackson High School were boarding their bus after the game against Jefferson High School when racial slurs were yelled at them. APS said no students were physically harmed but noted that the behavior was unacceptable and is being taken seriously.
Jefferson City Schools said it is aware of the concerns and that Jefferson High School administrators are working with officials from Maynard Jackson High to gather information and determine what occurred. The district said it is conducting its own review and will decide on any next steps once the investigation is complete.
