A group called My Lake Lanier has begun a letter-writing campaign to the Corps of Engineers expressing concern over a proposed dredging of the Chattahahoochee River downstream.
The issue is the impact this work might have on the lake and the owners of property around it, including water levels and water supply; the effects during drought and low-water conditions; recreation and boating safety; fish, wildlife, etc.; economic, and long-term consequences.
The Corps is in the planning and public input phases for the project and the final decision on dredging resumption is pending. The public comment period ends September 28.
