*The Gwinnett County Police Department is addressing changes to eliminate officer abuse of its Flock camera system. District One Commissioner Kirkland Carden told residents at a meeting recently that every search now requires a supervisor’s approval, while officers are also being retrained in the system. Three officers were fired recently for misusing the license plate readers. A full audit is now underway.
*The embattled mayor of Stockbridge was removed from office Saturday by the city council. Mayor Jayden Williams was removed from office following a daylong hearing into allegations of sexual misconduct, unauthorized spending and mistreatment of city employees. He left the meeting without comment.
*Georgia death row inmate Stacey Humphreys is set for a clemency hearing ahead of his execution this week. The State Board of Pardons and Paroles scheduled the hearing for Tuesday, one day before Humphreys is set to be executed by lethal injection. Humphreys was sentenced to death for the 2003 murders of real estate agents Cyndi Williams and Lori Brown in Cobb County. His attorneys have asked the U.S. Supreme Court to stay the execution, arguing juror misconduct influenced his sentence. A Cobb County judge denied his request for a new trial.
