The drought-free parts of Georgia decreased by eleven percent over the past week, according to a report released by the U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) Thursday. Drought conditions now cover 21 percent of the state.
In our corner, only parts of Fannin and Gilmer counties are considered drought-free. Hall County, for instance, is split between “abnormally” and “moderately” dry. “Severe conditions,” meanwhile, have gained a foothold in Hart County and part of Elbert, making them the hardest hit places in the state.
And the level of Lake Lanier? 1065.1. The same as a week ago.
