Tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and it’s not going unnoticed by Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) and its chief, Jerry Green.
“”9/11 made a huge impact on the fire service and on many people who joined shortly after the attacks,” Chief Green said Wednesday. “It inspired a generation of men and women to join something bigger than themselves to serve and protect those in need.
“It is hard to believe that 25 years have passed since that terrible day, but it will never be forgotten—especially by those who began their careers inspired by the ultimate sacrifice made by the 343 firefighters who lost their lives.”
Asked if anything special is planned by the department in observance of the anniversary, spokeswoman Kimberlie Ledsinger said several things are in the works.
“…on Friday, we have our honor guard participating in a memorial at Antioch church, crews are also going to the West Hall football game to present colors and fly a flag, they are also going to West Hall for the heroes parade, and there is a remembrance ceremony at Deaton Creek that Station 14 will be attending.”
