*Katherine Brown of Atlanta celebrated her 105th birthday over the holiday weekend. Brown has lived in Atlanta since 1944 and made history as the city’s first Black president of the American Legion. Brown shared her advice for longevity, emphasizing the importance of faith and minding one’s own business. Brown says she tends to her own business and stays out of other peoples, and other people better stay out of hers. Fox 5 reports that despite her age, she remains active in her community and church, serving as a deaconess at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church.
*An innocent 19-year-old man was killed in Atlanta early Monday when the pickup he was in was struck by a state patrol car which was involved in a chase with another vehicle. The state Department of Public Safety (DPS) says the trooper had responded an intersection where “illegal stunt driving” was taking place. The man who died in the crash was a passenger in the pickup. The driver was injured but is expected to be okay. The DPS is investigating whether the department’s policies and procedures were followed by the officer.
*A Georgia woman is suing Flock Group Inc. for alleged privacy violations. The lawsuit accuses the Atlanta-based company of building an unchecked pervasive surveillance grid. The complaint alleges the cameras does more than just read license plates, it captures images of cars, keeps timestamps, and photographs drivers and passengers inside.
*A school administrator is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the Greene County School System (GCSS). The GBI arrested Dr. Kimberly Simmons and her husband last week for theft by taking after $50,000 went missing from the school system.
