Jackson EMC was experiencing 145 outages affecting 10,425 members across its service area as of 6:30 Saturday night, most of them in Hall County because of the afternoon’s stormy weather.
“A line of strong thunderstorms moved through the area this evening, bringing high winds and heavy rainfall that caused damage to our distribution system,” spokeswoman Wendy Jones said.
“Jackson EMC crews are working diligently to restore outages as quickly as conditions and safety procedures allow. We recognize the inconvenience of being without power and sincerely appreciate our members’ patience.”
