*Georgia set a new record in Fiscal Year 2026 with roughly $35 billion in project investments. From July 1, 2025, to June 30 of this year, the Global Commerce team supported 436 expansions by state businesses and new company locations across the state. They are expected to bring an estimated 25,300 new private-sector jobs in the coming years.
*Three more measles cases associated with the measles case confirmed earlier this month have been confirmed by state health officials. That brings to eight the number of cases associated with the current outbreak which is associated with a daycare setting in the metro Atlanta area; the children were either unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated. Meanwhile, the CDC said Friday there have been 3,134 confirmed measles cases in the country so far this year, marking the highest annual total in more than 35 years. *Athens is posting some of the fastest job growth in the country, even as Georgia loses jobs statewide. Bureau of Labor Statistics data show payrolls in the Athens area grew 3.6 percent over the past year, ranking third in the country. Atlanta lost 3,300 jobs over the same period, while Georgia overall lost 9,600.
*Students at Alpharetta High School are petitioning to remove Flock Safety cameras from campus, claiming they violate the Fourth Amendment and infringe on privacy. The petition has gained more than 100 signatures since its launch earlier this week. District Superintendent Mike Looney says the cameras have been in place since 2022.
