The NFL preseason is over. The Falcons edged the Dolphins 17-12. Atlanta visits Pittsburgh a week from Sunday to kick off the regular season.
Georgia Tech begins Week One of the College Football season against Colorado on Thursday. (Remember, 97.5 GLORY FM is the new home in Gainesville for Yellow Jacket football. Pre-game Thursday 6:00; Kick-off 8:00.) Georgia, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Alabama and Auburn get to work on Saturday.
Matt Olson came through in the clutch with a walk-off single to power the Braves past the Rockies 3-2 in 10 innings. Atlanta swept the series and is now riding a seven-game winning streak. The team hosts the Giants tonight.
The Atlanta Dream beat out the Minnesota Lynx 89-81, the Dream continue the home stand when they next play the Connecticut Sun September 17.
Scottie Scheffler is a FedExCup champion once again. Scheffler won the PGA Tour Championship by three strokes after finishing atop the leaderboard at 16 under par Sunday in Atlanta. He joins Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy as the only repeat champions.
