Gary Bagwell, 79, of Oakwood, died at his home over the weekend following an extended illness.
Bagwell was the events coordinator at the now-defunct Georgia Mountains Center in Gainesville for several years but, finally settled on being a school teacher.
He loved music, especially singing and directing church choirs. He served as minister of music at Flat Creek Baptist Church for eight years.
After retiring from education, he founded a senior adult choir aptly named “The Golden Chorale.” Leading the choir was his passion, and until just a few weeks before his passing, he was working diligently to regain the strength to conduct it again, according to his obituary which can be found in full here: Obituary for William Gary Bagwell | Memorial Park Funeral Homes
A celebration of life will be held at Flat Creek Baptist Church October 4 at 2:00.
