*Three large solar projects are proposed for south Georgia. The AJC reports the trio of plans recently submitted paperwork to go through the Developments of Regional Impact portal. Each solar panel farm will cover at least 1,500 acres in Irwin, Mitchell and Miller counties. If approved, the projects are expected to be completed by late 2028 or 2029.
*An Athens-Clarke County tag office employee is under investigation for alleged fraud. Officers arrested Lilia Lozano on ten counts each of forgery, identity fraud and making false statements for incidents related to her work at the tag office. Details on the alleged scheme haven’t been released. The 57-year-old has been fired.
*Cherokee County Commissioners have placed data centers on hold for a while longer. The commission voted recently to extend its 30-day moratorium another six-months to give staff more time to research and develop regulations. Channel Two reports the county doesn’t have any applications on hold at this time. Several other counties in the state also have moratoriums in place.
