The name of the victim of Tuesday’s fatal traffic accident in Habersham County had still not been released as of early Wednesday evening.
State troopers said an SUV traveling south on Gainesville Highway in Baldwin crossed the centerline and struck a tractor‑trailer head‑on. The driver of the tractor‑trailer attempted to avoid the collision, the state patrol report says, by steering toward the shoulder and hitting the guardrail, but the other vehicle continued into its path.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.
