The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has relaunched its statewide water safety initiative and has an $11,000 donation to help get it off the ground. The money comes from Friends of Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites and will be used to purchase 470 life jackets to be placed around Lake Lanier and other Georgia lakes.
The contribution fully restocks all 44 DNR‑managed Life Jacket Loaner Kiosks statewide
The kiosks provide free access to properly fitted life jackets for visitors, with a goal of helping reduce water‑related injuries and fatalities.
The Lake Lanier Association also operates life jacket loaner stations around the lake, stocked in infant, child, youth and adult sizes.
