A Gainesville man faces a long list of charges after Hall County sheriff’s deputies say he crashed his pickup and tried to run from them early Monday.
The sheriff’s office said Tuesday the officers spotting his truck traveling west on Athens Street with a broken headlight and tag light and moving at a high rate of speed. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver made a sharp turn onto East Ridge Road and accelerated. The truck left the right side of the road, briefly regained traction, then veered off again and hit a culvert, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Deputies approached the overturned truck as the driver, identified as Jose Reynoso‑Flores, 39, crawled out a window and attempted to flee. Despite commands to stop and the deployment of a Taser, he continued resisting until deputies were able to place him in handcuffs.
Hall County Fire Rescue evaluated Reynoso‑Flores at the scene. Deputies then took him to the hospital for further assessment before taking him to jail.
He is charged with fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer, three counts of obstruction of an officer, leaving the scene of an accident, driving without insurance and failure to wear a safety belt. Also, DUI, driving while unlicensed, failure to maintain lane and tag‑light and headlight violations.
Reynoso‑Flores is being held on $6,300 bond and has an immigration detainer.
