Christopher Neal Tilmuth, 36, of Gainesville remained in the Hall County Jail Tuesday afternoon following his arrest in a domestic incident on Athens Highway over the weekend.
According to a report from the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a residence in the 2400 block after a woman reported that Tilmuth, was intoxicated and trying to fight with her and another person. When deputies arrived, they found the 60‑year‑old woman and Tilmuth outside the house. Inside, they located a 66‑year‑old man suffering from several injuries to his face and head.
Investigators determined the victims, who are related to Tilmuth, had returned home earlier in the night and found him there. He appeared intoxicated and became argumentative. At one point, he grabbed the woman by the collar and screamed at her, then grabbed her upper arm hard enough to leave a mark. When the male victim intervened, Tilmuth wrestled him to the ground and punched him repeatedly in the face and head.
Deputies also learned that before the fight inside the home, Tilmuth confronted two other adults outside. He pointed a handgun at them and fired a round between their heads. No injuries were reported, and deputies recovered a spent shell casing from the yard.
Tilmuth is being held on the following charges:
· Simple battery under the Family Violence Act (FVA)

· Violation of a family violence order
· Reckless conduct (two counts)
· Discharging a firearm near a public highway
