Those storms that rumbled through Hall County overnight left behind downed trees and powerlines, scattered power outages, and almost two inches of rain.
Cagle Road appeared to be one of the hardest hit areas. The sheriff’s office reported early this morning that a section of it between Eli Jackson Road to Oak Lake Drive was shut down “due to multiple trees in the roadway.” Jackson EMC and Georgia Power both had crews on the scene because of damage to some of their poles and lines. At 6:00, the sheriff’s office reported that the road was still closed.
The weather service station at the Gainesville airport recorded a top wind gust of 36 mph. That was just before 9:00 last night. It also recorded 1.14 inches of rain.
Jackson EMC and Georgia Power both reported scattered outages throughout northeast Georgia. As late as 10:30, the EMC was still dealing with outages in Banks, Barrow, Gwinnett, Hall and Jackson counties. Georgia Power’s outage map showed no problems in our corner of the state.
