For the fifth time since last summer, the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is warning door-to-door salespeople and advising residents: there is a city ordinance that requires these peddlers to register with the city before “hitting the pavement.”
The latest advisory was recently posted on the city’s social media pages by the mayor and says police have received an increase in complaints regarding unregistered door-to-door salespeople and aggressive solicitation in local neighborhoods.
“All door-to-door solicitors ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ด๐ต register with GPD and carry a City-issued certificate ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐น๐น ๐๐ถ๐บ๐ฒ๐. If someone knocks on your door selling a product and/or service, ask to see their registration certificate,” the posting reads.ย
