As dangerous heat builds into the area, heat index values today will rise into the 100-108 degree range, the National Weather Service (NWS) says.
“A heat advisory is in effect from 1-8pm today (for most of Georgia) as a result. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors,” the early morning statement says.
The heat advisory does not include Hall County and all of Georgia along and south of a line from Toccoa to Athens to Macon to LaGrange. Nevertheless, the Gainesville area forecast calls for a high of 93 with a heat index of 99 and that pattern is expected for the next several days with little chance for any rain.
