*Qualifying ended Wednesday afternoon for a special Flowery Branch City Council election that is to be held Nov. 3. “No one else qualified, and the qualifying period has ended,” city clerk Shelia Cooper said shortly after 4:30 Wednesday. The two candidates running for the vacancy are former mayor Ed Asbridge and Charles Thompson. The post became vacant when the incumbent resigned earlier this year because he was planning to move.
