A Hall County teenager remained in jail late Monday afternoon following his arrest Sunday after a hit‑and‑run crash on Calvary Church Road, according to the state patrol.
Troopers say Aliester Mota-Guzman attempted to pass another vehicle in a no‑passing zone, lost control and struck a fence at the Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve. He then reportedly left the scene. Witnesses provided information about the vehicle and the driver, which led troopers and sheriff’s deputies to make contact with both a short time later.
Mota‑Guzman, 18, was arrested and charged with passing in a no‑passing zone, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, tire requirements, hit and run and driving with a learner’s permit without a licensed driver over 21 in the car with him.
Authorities said Mota‑Guzman had four passengers in the vehicle. No injuries were reported, and damage to the vehicle and fence was minor.
