Flowery Branch police arrested two people on a total of 14 charges including drug distribution following a traffic stop Monday on I-985 led to the discovery of drugs and a gun, according to the department.
An officer stopped the vehicle after he says he saw it weaving on the road. Police identified the driver as Preston English, 45, of Dacula, and the passenger as Candice Cooper, 37, of Lawrenceville.
During the investigation, officers say they found several grams of suspected methamphetamine, drug‑related smoking devices, a small amount of marijuana, an open container of alcohol, a shotgun and ammunition.
Cooper faces charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, open container violation, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession and use of drug‑related objects.
English faces the same charges, along with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and driving while his license was suspended.
Both remained in the Hall County Jail Tuesday night. English is being held without bond; Cooper’s bond has been set at $11,030.
