HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:
“A Gwinnett County man remains in the Hall County Jail following a weekend vehicle crash that seriously injured a passenger in a taxi.
The two-vehicle collision occurred just before 1:15 (Sunday morning), at the intersection of Queen City Parkway and Aviation Boulevard… Patrol deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and investigators with the agency’s Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) responded to the scene.
The investigation determined Michael Richard Murray, 49, of Norcross, was operating a 2010 Toyota Tundra northbound on Aviation Boulevard. As Murray approached the traffic signal at the intersection of Queen City Parkway, he failed to stop, running a red light. A 2016 Honda Civic, operating in the capacity of a taxi, was traveling eastbound through the intersection. The two vehicles collided. A back-seat passenger in the cab, Ma DeJesus Silva Rodriguez, 37, of Gainesville, was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with multiple broken bones. No one else was injured.
Patrol deputies charged Murray with DUI-alcohol/less safe, open container violation and obedience to required traffic control devices. AIU investigators charged Murray with felony serious injury by vehicle. He is being held with no bond on the felony charge.”
