Lanier Technical College (LTC) has officially opened its new Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics Studio.
Funded by a Georgia Artificial Intelligence (AIM) in Manufacturing Grant, officials say it provides Lanier Tech students a 21st Century approach to technical education.
“Launched by a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), Georgia AIM connects to all Georgia residents looking for opportunities in our growing AI-powered
manufacturing economy. Georgia AIM also supports efforts to reach students in grades K-12, technical colleges, and four-year universities, as well as workforce training for Georgians without a college degree.
“Through innovation, collaboration, education, and participation, Georgia AIM provides the
tools and knowledge to empower all Georgians to fully participate in the manufacturing workforce of the future,” according to GA AIM’s website.
Lanier Tech is one of five Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) institutions selected to oversee
GA AIM’s Project 2A, whose goal is to create “rural innovation incubators” to provide rural areas with access to technical skills training in the rapidly-growing field of AI.
“This whole studio and program started with one phone call and an ambitious vision! From there,
everyone in this room has made a meaningful impact in creating the opportunity for our students to
gain experience in this growing career field. Thank you to the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce for
bringing everyone together for this meaningful Ribbon Cutting Ceremony,” said Lanier Tech
President Tim McDonald as he addressed the crowd.
