A Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday night for portions of north Georgia – including Hall and now all the adjacent counties.
“Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms with high rainfall rates will increase the risk for localized flash flooding,” a weather service mid-morning advisory says. ” Widespread rainfall of 2 to 4 inches will be possible with locally higher amounts of 5 inches or more. Low-lying, poor-drainage, mountainous, and urban areas will be the most susceptible to flash flooding.”
In addition to taking in more counties bordering Hall, the expanded area includes northern parts of metro Atlanta and areas east of Athens.
It’s not known at this time if it is weather-related, but the Hall County Sheriff’s Office reports another wreck on I-985 – this one has the left northbound lane at Exit 14 blocked.
Earlier crashes, between Spout Springs Road and Friendship Road and at Exit 14 have been cleared.
