A Hall County woman was jailed after police say she snatched a bottle of pseudoephedrine tablets from an Oakwood smoke shop and fled in a white SUV and her husband ended up in jail on a separate theft charge this week as well.
Oakwood Police say Jennifer Akers, 39, of Oakwood, was charged with robbery by sudden snatch after officers responded around 12:30 p.m. to Xhale City at 3416 Mundy Mill Road. According to investigators, a woman wearing an oversized white shirt went behind the store counter and grabbed a package of Inferno Pseudo Tabs valued at $85.59 while the manager watched.
The woman then left in a white SUV heading west on Mundy Mill Road toward I‑985, police said.
Officers later searched the Flock license-plate reader database and found images of a vehicle matching the suspect’s SUV near the time of the theft. Investigators identified the registered owner and his spouse as suspects in the case, noting similarities to individuals seen in security footage from another incident in Flowery Branch.
A search warrant executed at the suspects’ residence led officers to an empty bottle of Pseudo Tabs, according to police. Both individuals were present during the search but declined to speak with investigators.
Akers was taken into custody and booked into the Hall County Jail. Police said the investigation is ongoing as they work to determine whether Michael Ayers was his wife’s getaway driver.
Details regarding the husband’s arrest by Flowery Branch Police were not available at last check but he’s facing similar charges.
