Eight months after it closed for a major overhaul, Gainesville’s Longwood Park has reopened. The finished product was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting Tuesday attended by numerous city officials.
“What an amazing new chapter for Longwood Park!” begins a Tuesday Gainesville Parks & Recreation Facebook posting. “Today, City Council, Gainesville Parks and Recreation Board & Staff, and project partners came together to cut ribbons for the new Dogwood Pavilion and renovations at Longwood Park.
“This stunning new gathering space enhances one of our community’s favorite parks, creating even more opportunities for families, friends, and visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of Lake Lanier!”
The park closed last November for the work which included demolishing Dogwood Pavilion and replacing it with a new facility.
The park is on the West By-Pass across from Gainesville High School.
