A Heat Advisory is in effect for Banks, Jackson, and Barrow counties and other parts of the state southeast of those three until 8:00 tonight. The National Weather Service (NWS) says those areas may experience afternoon heat index values of 105-108.
For Gainesville and the rest of Hall County, they may run as high as 100 today and tomorrow. But scattered storms are also expected to develop across the area this afternoon and evening. A few may become strong to severe, capable of producing damaging wind gusts and frequent lightning.
