*A Savannah State University (SSU) student is back with his family after being released from ICE detention in New York. On July 3, Johan Sandoval was arrested by ICE over what his immigration attorney John Jeha says was a school transfer paperwork issue. But Sandoval was eventually released on a $20,000 bond. A price Jeha tells WSAV-TV was a bit steep. The 22-year-old is on a full athletic scholarship at SSU.

* Former Pulaski County Sheriff Danny Brannen was arrested for DUI after being caught driving 63 in a 45-mile-per-hour zone yesterday morning. The Georgia State Patrol noted he smelled of alcohol and slurred his speech. He faces charges for DUI and speeding. Brannen served as sheriff from 2017 to 2024 and was investigated by Gov. Kemp in 2022 for alleged incapacity to perform his duties.
