Construction is underway on Lakeside at Harrison Village in Gainesville, a new 100-unit affordable housing community designed for adults 55 and older with incomes at or below 80% of the area median income.
Located on Harrison Drive, the four-story development will offer a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments and include indoor and outdoor community spaces intended to support social engagement and active living.
According to the Gainesville Housing Authority (GHA), 65 of the apartments will feature Project-Based Vouchers, allowing residents to pay about 30% of their adjusted income toward rent and utilities. The remaining units will be priced according to U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development income limits, with anticipated rents between $1,000 and $1,500 per month.
Developers say the project marks a significant step toward expanding affordable housing options for seniors in Gainesville.
