A Gainesville man wanted for an incident on Cleveland Highway seven months ago was arrested Sunday evening on two active warrants and a probation violation.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies spotted Larry Franklin White Jr., 59, standing in the roadway near Hilltop Circle just after 8:00. A patrol deputy identified White and determined he had outstanding warrants stemming from a Jan. 9 incident.
In that earlier case, deputies found White in the middle of Cleveland Highway near Lakeland Road, brandishing a machete. He refused repeated orders to drop the weapon and was tased when he moved toward drivers in the roadway. Deputies detained him and took him to the hospital, where he was held for a mental health evaluation.
Warrants were later obtained for obstruction of an officer and pedestrian must walk on sidewalk, both misdemeanors. HCSO was not notified when White was discharged from the hospital.
White is currently being held without bond on a probation violation charge.
