*The deadly shooting of a pregnant woman is under investigation in Milledgeville, at least the third such incident in Georgia in a week’s time. Officers say 31-year-old Briuna Hartry died after she was shot on North Richmond Street Friday morning. The suspect reportedly turned the gun on himself in what Milledgeville officers now consider to be a murder-suicide.  On Tuesday, a 22-year-old pregnant woman was killed by a bullet from outside while she slept in her DeKalb County home. And Riverdale Police say a pregnant woman was shot and wounded during a domestic dispute Saturday morning.

*One of the country’s top independent bookstores is right here in the Peach State. That’s according to USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards, which placed E. Shaver, Bookseller in Savannah’s Historic District at number nine overall. The shop was noted for its long history, regular author events, and themed book clubs.

*A UGA student is this year’s Miss Georgia. The Miss Georgia Scholarship Organization handed the award to Sophia Wootten on Saturday night at the RiverCenter in Columbus.  The new Miss Georgia Teen is Melony Tidmore of Powder Springs. She attends Liberty University Online Academy.
