Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators charged a Gainesville man with burglarizing the same business facility three times in South Hall after his arrest during a traffic stop this week. The amount of the items taken came close to $20,000.
HCSO NEWS RELEASE:
On May 29, UPS company officials discovered their Maple Avenue facility in Buford had been burglarized earlier in the month and reported the incident to deputies. The case was referred to the HCSO Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which worked with company officials to determine the facility was burglarized by the same individual during the early morning hours of May 3 and May 24. The suspect struck again June 14. Each time, he stole boxes containing cell phones and wireless routers from trucks at the facility. The estimated value of the stolen items is $17,000.
Through the investigation over the next several days, SIU investigators identified Kn’deric Manandre Nickson, 24, of Gainesville, as a suspect.
On Tuesday morning, June 16, deputies stopped an SUV at Ga. 369/Browns Bridge Road and Murphy Boulevard because the driver, later identified as Nickson, failed to maintain his travel lane. Deputies arrested him for driving with a suspended license and found a THC vape device in his pocket.
During the stop, an HCSO K9 alerted to additional illegal drugs in the SUV. SIU investigators responded and found two more THC vape devices and marijuana inside. They also recovered several phones that were stolen during the burglaries.
Nickson is charged with three felony counts of second-degree burglary. He is also charged with possession of a Schedule I drug, a felony, and driving with a suspended license and failure to maintain lane, both misdemeanors.
Deputies transported Nickson to the Hall County Jail following his arrest, where he remains held without bond on his felony charges.
SIU continues to investigate the burglaries.
