*A Mexican national who had previously been deported multiple times is facing federal charges in Atlanta. Federal agents arrested 37-year-old Lorenzo Rojas-Martinez for illegally flying a drone over Centennial Park during FIFA World Cup activities. That was when agents discovered Rojas-Martinez was in the U.S. unlawfully after two previous deportations.
*Officials are trying to restore full operations after a water leak caused extensive damage at the VA Medical Center in Augusta. A pipe broke on the main campus on Friday, impacting three floors. Staff and patients were relocated, and crews worked throughout the weekend to assess and repair the damage. Patients affected by the situation have been contacted to reschedule appointments or receive care through community healthcare partners.
*Georgia Tech President Angel Cabrera is stepping down later this year. Cabrera has been selected the next president and CEO of the Aspen Institute, a global nonprofit that’s focused on public policy and leadership.
