Kemp endorses Jones; Churches vandalized; Voting irregularities charged

*In a last-minute endorsement, Governor Brian Kemp has thrown his support behind Republican gubernatorial candidate for Burt Jones. Kemp announced his endorsement of the lieutenant governor last night. In doing so, Kemp, in a social media posting, said he and Jones “has been a strong, trusted ally in those victories for the people of our state,” singling out tax cuts and economic growth. Kemp joins President Trump in supporting Jones, who faces Rick Jackson in tomorrow’s Republican primary.

*The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is looking into vandalism and theft targeting several area churches. The sheriff’s office announced Friday that parts have been stolen from air conditioning units at some churches, while other units were damaged by vandalism. Deputies are trying to determine how many other churches may have damaged AC units.

*A candidate who failed to advance to a runoff to be Augusta’s mayor is challenging the results in court. Lori Myles claims voting information was mishandled and that over 18,000 absentee ballots disappeared.
