A Gainesville man remained in the Hall County Jail Tuesday afternoon following an accident Friday that touched off a chain reaction of events that ended with him fleeing on foot. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office says it happened Friday.
HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:
“Deputies responded to the single-vehicle crash in the 2900 block of Evergreen Hollow Drive at approximately 11:50 p.m. According to the initial investigation, the male driver was southbound on Evergreen Hollow Drive when his 2009 Toyota Corolla left the road and hit a light pole between two homes in a cul-de-sac. The car came to rest in the backyard of one of the houses, and the driver left the scene on foot.
Deputies spotted the suspect in the area and took him into custody on Evergreen Hollow Drive a short distance from the wreck at roughly 11:55 p.m. Hall County Fire Rescue responded to check the driver, who did not suffer injuries. Deputies identified the driver as Michael Jose Morales-Gurrero, 35, and arrested him.
In addition to DUl, deputies cited Morales-Gurrero for duty to stop at accident (hit and run), duty to make immediate reports of accidents and duty upon striking fixture. The other citations include too fast for conditions and driving while license suspended. He is also charged with misdemeanor obstruction of an officer for refusing a deputy’s verbal commands to stop running.
Deputies transported Morales-Gurrero to the Hall County Jail, where he remains held without bond on some of his charges.”
