On the lighter side of the news…(Part 1)

Four local police officers, who made the front of their department’s Facebook pages have been getting a lot of attention this week, all because of four-legged critters they encountered. And not police horses, either.

This is back-to-back two-parter. So, here goes. First, as taken directly from the Oakwood department’s Facebook page:

“OH DEER!

Last night, Sgt. Crowder, Officer Schroeder, and Officer Gunn discovered a baby deer who apparently missed the memo about using designated crossing areas. After a brief investigation and a gentle relocation effort, the fawn was safely escorted from the roadway to a nearby field.

No citations were issued, although the deer was given a verbal warning about jaywalking and reminded to stay off the asphalt until it earns its driver’s license.

Great job by Sgt. Crowder, Officer Schroeder, and Officer Gunn for helping keep both motorists and wildlife safe!”
