Gainesville and Hall County are coming together to commemorate the country’s 250th anniversary through a series of community-wide “US250” events through Independence Day.
While county-wide gatherings have already taken place at the Hall County Government Center, ongoing local history and cultural events are scheduled downtown as well as on the shores of the lake. [1, 2, 3, 4]
You can join the celebrations through several local venues and upcoming festivities:
- Downtown Square: Historic Downtown Gainesville’s square hosts community festivals, the Blue Sky Concert Series, and First Friday Concerts, which feature US250 programming honoring the nation’s founding. [1, 2]
- Hall County Library System: You can participate in special educational and historical displays, as well as giving campaigns at any of the library branches, including the Downtown Gainesville Library. [1]
- Don Carter State Park: Located just a short drive from downtown, the park hosts Monumental Moments Events, which include scavenger hunts and educational activities dedicated to the statewide Georgia 250 initiative. [1, 2]
- And more as additional events are added.
