An East Hall man accidentally shot himself Thursday, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
“A 76-year-old man was sitting on his porch loading his pistol when the weapon jammed,” spokeswoman B.J. Williams said. “As he attempted to clear the weapon, it discharged and a bullet struck him in the left hand. He was transported to the hospital for treatment of the injury.”
Deputies reported he was at home by himself and there was nothing suspicious about the incident, which happened in the 5200 block of Old Cornelia Highway.
Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office fielded a report from the 1800 block of Moore Lane of a pet being shot and killed.
“A citizen filed an online report saying someone shot and killed her cat,” Williams said. “There were no other details in her complaint.”
The report was filed Thursday.
